"I went to an astrologer and it was total BS. They said I'd never get married, but now I have two kids and life is good."
"They said I have a romance star but I've never even dated."
You've probably heard something like this at least once, right 'ㅅ'
So is astrology a scam?
Let's think about this for a second.
"Where's the scientific proof?"
Fair question. But here's the weird part. Why is this question only aimed at astrology?
If you think about it.. there are things in our world that we engage with every day that have no scientific proof either.
So are all of those scams too?
Traditional vs Modern Interpretation
I prefer traditional interpretation.
The reason is simple. The data is different.
Modern interpretation has a short history.
Traditional interpretation spans thousands of years. Babylonia, Egypt, China, India — thousands of years of observing people being born, living, and dying. Records built on records.
And here comes the question.
"So you're saying humans are data?"
Are humans data?
Honestly, I don't know.
But if you think about it, we already live as data.
Catch a cold? Math checks you, math-made medicine heals you.
Work? You use information (data) stored in your brain to work and earn money.
Study? You put data in, and pull data out on exams.
Even machines — their results change depending on how much data they learn.
We already live by data. So why deny only astrology's data 'ㅅ'
So it's just a game of probability?
Maybe. Maybe not 'ㅅ'
But if you think about it, probability is deeply connected to all living things.
For example, you're walking at your own pace. You need to cross the traffic light up ahead.
But the light changes. You run like crazy but don't make it.
What is this? Couldn't we call it probability?
You didn't bring an umbrella today. It rained. Isn't that probability too?
And we regularly see couples who met through incredibly fateful circumstances and got married.
How would you explain that?
So astrology is 100% accurate?
Hmm 'ㅅ'a
Does 100% even exist in this world 'ㅅ'?
When astrology says "you will divorce" or "you have no wealth luck" — is that really 100%?
For some people, 50% might be accurate. For others, 70%. For some, maybe just 1%.
"Then isn't it just confirmation bias?"
If you look at it that way, every event in the world is confirmation bias.
Weather forecasts are wrong. Doctor diagnoses are wrong. Economic expert predictions are wrong.
But nobody says "weather forecasts are a scam."
Why? Because they're calculated mathematically. In other words, there's mathematical basis behind it.
And interestingly, astrology has this too.
So what is astrology then?
I think of it as a reference map.
Living with a map that has thousands of years of history, versus living without one. Which sounds more fun 'ㅅ'?
Then why do we need it?
Honestly, three reasons.
Fascination — It's just fascinating.
Curiosity — Ancient people built a system over thousands of years. Aren't you curious?
Meta-cognition — It's seeing yourself from a different angle. Right or wrong, just thinking about it has meaning.
Am I telling you to believe in astrology? No. This site isn't a religion.
It's just fascinating. Truly fascinating 'ㅅ'
